Just a little Team Meeting.....

"How would you feel about doing a joint Team Meeting? It would take the pressure off a bit - don't you think?"

True. By doing a Training meet up together, it would half the amount of work. We could share it out and lean on each other. Brilliant idea! I said. Lets do it!

Today, as I type, the meeting is 2 days away. This little Team Meeting has snowballed and turned into something quite, quite different.

Claire was one of my Incentive Cruise buddies. We are only an hour and a bit up the motorway - so it made perfect sense to join up and arrange a training day. It's fair to say we both have an immovable belief that Scentsy is a huge opportunity, that anyone can succeed with it at any time. I am well aware that most people will give up within the first year of being with a direct sales or party plan company. The purpose of this event was to share our passion for the company and the product with our teams. To promote the long term residual income, and put a fire in their belly for the Winter Sales Season, so that they can really get stuck in and go and achieve what they never thought possible!

We had an idea that we would ask the top Scentsy Consultants for their TOP BUSINESS BUILDING TIPS. The Super Star Directors (the top rank in Scentsy) are all in the USA. Claire and I messaged a few we knew were in our upline and asked them for their TOP TIPS to help our teams launch the Scentsy Brand here in Europe. After all, they had done it so successfully in the USA with a fraction of the support that we have now!

So we were a little floored to get a reply from one SSD, who we had never met, asking if we would mind if they came over to the UK for our meeting - to help us. OMG! Serioulsy??? You are going to come all this way? We skyped, they were awesome, and normal and just wanted to help us to help our teams. I love it. The Scentsy ethos of pulling together and helping out. The Scentsy Family. More than a company - and I don't care how "La dee da" that sounds! Until I became part of the Scentsy company I really had no idea where all the happy and helpful souls were hiding. I am so glad I found them.

But theres more.....From the launch of Scentsy Europe in April 2011 we have been run from afar in the USA. Many emails and requests for our own home based manager were thrown back and forth, someone who understood the market here and how we are as a nation. And lo...a UK Manager came unto us. As it happened just a week before our meeting! Yay!! I spy an opportunity here....so I emailed, facebooked and generally harassed our previous European Manager, who is based in Idaho, into telling our new guy about our meeting.

BRING BRING!!! The Dude calls me on the Monday before the meeting to tell me he'd be delighted to come along and meet the Teams! #DoubleYay!

Claire and I had already decided that, with our SSD coming along we wanted to make the most of the opportunity and open up the meeting not just to our teams but to any one else who was local and could make it. It would be such a shame to have such great training and knowledge to near by and not know about it! So we invited others in, and they gratefully accepted.

We now have a great day planned, 5 trainings, 3 VIP's, a great opportunity to for the UK Manager to meet our UK Consultants and for them to tell him what we need, lots of food, a great networking day for everyone with an evening meal afterwards.

I bloomin' love this job. The opportunities just keep coming - and to think I never knew this world was out there.

All I have left to do is grab a huge tray of doughnuts from Adsa and laminate some print outs for the day. In fact the laminator is warming as I type....

Have a great weekend :)

And then it happened.......

Its been nearly two years since I joined Scentsy, the Party Plan company for the safer alternative to candles.

There's been times I've wanted to give up and walk away. But a few phrases and words of advice have always repeated over and over in my mind, so jacking it all in was never more that a fleeting release of frustration.

I wasn't making a lot of money, I was putting hours and hours into it, I was tired, my team was growing meaning I had to make sure I was always one step ahead and knew my stuff, that I could inspire and train. Sometimes sales were thin on the ground. Sometimes events would be like the Mary Celeste.

But on the plus side, I had met some amazingly inspiring people. I had won a free Mediterranean cruise, all expenses paid. I found out that I was actually an OK person and not the failure I had always assumed I was. I had promised myself that if I was going to do this - I was going to do it properly. From the word GO I ran this as a business. Keeping records of my expenditure and earnings, tax returns, receipts, logging petrol. I made myself a timetable of both the days of the week I would spend doing Scentsy, and also the things I would cover during that time to make sure all aspects of the business were covered. Training, recruiting, events, parties, customer services, social media.....its been hard work.

Those words and phases I was telling you about...

"If you work really hard for 2 - 3 years, it will all be worth it....I promise"

"It's not the lucky few who succeed in Party Plan, its the ones who refuse to give up, that's why they are at the top. It's not luck - it's perseverance"

"Most people give up within the first year. That first year it just ground work. Accept it and work towards years 2 and 3"

"I'm not telling you it will be easy....I'm telling you it will be worth it"

Every time it got hard, parties cancelled, team members came and went, my commission went to the stall holders fees, I was tired....these phrases kept coming back to me.

I had invested too much time, too much effort & too much of me to give up. I plodded on. I kept consistent. I did it all on my terms, worked Scentsy when I could and worked it hard. I have never pushed for sales or recruits - that was my promise to myself. Don't EVER turn into one of those pushy target driven drones.

This month I have promoted again. A whole bunch of my team have promoted too. I am arranging a training day with a fellow Scentsy Consultant who has nothing to do with my team - we just share the same drive and passion and immovable belief that this will work! I have been astounded time and time again my the response of others. To help, to motivate, to succeed. I have found a network of people that want to BE somebody and DO something.
My some of my fabulous Team with Orville & Heidi

This training day is shaping up to be something amazing, beyond my expectations, and that is due to the kindness and selflessness of others.

So now, after 2 years of working hard, every minute I could, I am starting to see results. It's not just "happened". Am I lucky?? Good grief no. I have worked my socks off and now I am seeing the results. I'm not giving up - this is just going to keep getting bigger and bigger.

It will be worth it - and I am so grateful for the people I have met that have given me the vision to build for the long term and not a quick buck.

This year I am aiming to hit Director and go to Cancun, Mexico. Then to Greece. The future is bright, and I'm finally writing my own :)

Cancun, Mexico - see that....that's MY sunbed!

3rd times a charm.....

I'm am back from Convention in Liverpool, which was a new learning curve for more than one reason.

Scentsy UK Convention August 2011 - The Original
The first time I went, it was with no expectations at all. I really didn't know why I was going or what I would find. What I found were 40 Consultants, mostly women, who were utterly normal. All different, all alone at convention (there was the odd husband that had been dragged along) and all with a drive to get this done, to acheive and to make this work. We were laden with free product and the speeches were amazing. I sat through the second day in a bit of a daze as it dawned on me that this was really something. We had a huge opportunity here as Scentsy was starting out in Europe. Having spent serious time with the companies leaders and top execs that weekend, it was clear that these weren't the get rich quick types. They were honest about every aspect of how they had made it where they were, and how we would too. It would be hard, but it would be worth it.

Convention 2012 - Leeds, chatting afterwards
So lets cut to year 2, our second ever convention with 100 consultants. A few very nervous Consultants took to the stage to share their experience of events, parties & building a team. The microphone shaking in their hands. I sat there watching thinking, I'm so glad I can sit here and watch. I'd be terrified. More ludicrous freebies, and again I attended alone. My fledging team in their small numbers were unable to make it. I was more confident but still felt out of the loop. I was working my business and it was slowly building. I loved it but in that room all those ladies from last year were surrounded my their teams, they seemed to be getting it so right. The speeches again were amazing, emotive and inspiring. I was still sure I was going to make this work - I just felt like I wasn't doing it as quickly or as well as others.

Liverpool 2013. Third time round.  Holy wowser pants. A phrase I use because just one crazy word doesn't quite cut it. I wanted to sit and be inspired, to be trained, to have my heart filled with joy and embrace all that was Scentsy Convention. This time, however, it was different.

This year I had been asked to do a training in front of the 120 strong crowd. In front of my team. Top execs. My Peers. My tummy had been doing flips for weeks, I kept telling myself it'd be fine. The last time I was on a stage I got stage fright. School play 1993, I was Snick The Evil Goblin (starring along side Coldplays William Champion I might add) I had to burst out of my alien time capsule jail onto the stage. I just froze. I actually saw myself on stage like I was floating above as some sort of Angel of Doom. I considered walking off. The words didn't come, I messed up my 10 verse solo and promised myself I'd never grace a stage again. I never did. I chose to stick to back stage from then on, still loving the theatre and wishing I wasn't such a dufus.

Convention 2013 - Liverpool
Still, there was something different about it this time. I knew my stuff. I wasn't panicking about messing up my lines, I didn't have any. I'd prepared a few slides about how I'd organised myself and my business around all my other commitments. You know the score, full time job, running a karate dojo, 2 kids, husband that acts like a kid...., so I lived it and I knew the subject.

The biggest difference, was the expectation. I was with my team - 6 of them came along this time. I'd bigged up Convention so much to them - the freebies, the networking, the top execs, the trainings....I was not prepared for the fall out when it didn't meet expectation for some, or that there would be personalities that were hard to deal with. When you are the leader, all the feed back comes to you, the good and bad. All the traumas and all the joy. It was hard. I was trying to steady my nerves for my training the next day but I was starting to get exhausted from the constantness. I was still loving it, and loved having my Team around - they are a fabulous bunch and I'm so proud of them. But the event bought along challenges I wasn't expecting.

The morning came and it was my big day. I was the last in the line up of 4 Consultants. I couldn't concentrate on any of the content before my turn. My palms were all sweaty. Then it was me. Oh crikey the walk to the stage was the longest ever, the mic was mine and off I went. I looked out into the crowd and all I saw was freinds. I wasn't scared at all. I did my thing, I loved it. All I did was talk about how I worked my business and balanced everything in my life. I was so, so pleased to get such great feedback from my peers.

My wonderful team with Heidi & Orville Thompson
The afternoon rolled on and the big reveals came out, we got freebies, there were more drama's and I handled it all, I hope, with grace. It was a Convention experience that opened my eyes to a new chapter of my Scentsy story. I got to the hotel after it had all finished and I was exhausted by the constantness of it all. My mind racing, I was close to tears after a stressful yet uplifting and amazing weekend. Even though I was so emotionally tied up, I knew even then that once I got some perspective, I would be able to look back and see how much I had learnt from the experience. This is what it is to lead, it's not easy and these hurdles and bumps along the way will make me a better leader. I will be able to deal with it better the next time.

My days of sitting back and being entertained at convention are over - and I'm glad. Now it's for me to show others the wonder of Scentsy and our ethos of generosity, authenticity and simplicity. Its worth it all for others to be able to see what I see - a world of opportunity.

Free Cruise? Don't mind if I do......

Ok, so yes, I know. I said I'd give you all the goss. Lots of pictures and all that jazz. Then I left you hanging.....for 2 months!! How rude is that!!!

The thing is, I was not expecting the trip to be what is turned out to be. So you have read my previous blog on the subject, right? So you know that I earned the Scentsy EU Incentive Trip, not by being annoying and power hungry but just by doing a few parties, building a team and helping them do a few parties too. Then all of a sudden I was just a few points away from actually winning this thing - then I did and I was amazed.

I left my family behind to embark on this holiday, my first abroad in 12 years, and I was scared. Sure I had met some of the girls that had also won the trip a few times before at Scentsy events and we chatted on facebook, but I didn't know them. I couldn't call them freinds...I was going alone and I didn't know how I was going to fill my evenings or if I'd be included in others plans to go for a drink or a meal - you know the kind of thing. I've always been a little socially awkward but my jolly manner and need to fill a silence in a room with a little witty banter has meant that I've hidden it well. Truth is - I've never really felt like I was a part of anything, a gang, a group, a happy collective.

Here I am, after travelling alone for 6 hours. I managed to navigate the airport and customs which to me is another world. The all of a sudden - it's there. This HUGE ship. HUGE! I've never seen anything like it. My heart starts pumping. But I'm on a shuttle bus with happy couples and groups of freinds and then there's me, alone, grinning to myself and not being able to share this feeling of awe, panic, excitement and expectation with anyone.

I'm on the gang plank. I'm actually going to board this ship.....I hand over my travel pass and I'm in! I bought a new hat for the occasion and I'm heading from the deck to the inner corridor. I arrive on the other side and there it is. Its a high steet INDOORS! I'm looking down at a glass bridge lit up with flourescent lights, bars on either side, coffee shops, clothes shops, a bakery with cupcake classes, it's all there. And its inside!

Now it's living up to the hype, this is mahoosive. I don't see anyone I recognise. Oh help. I'm on this thing all alone. My heart is pumping I need to hug someone or I'm actually going to implode. Then I remember there is a meeting point that has just opened. All Consultants are set to meet there from between 2 & 4pm. It's 1.55pm, I'm running up the stairs. At each level the view from the gallery down to the high street gets better and better. Oh wow. I just found the resaurant. It's JUST like Titanic. Spiralling stair cases, grand piano. The waiters all have a towel over there arms. I'm delighted and stop for a self portrait.

Then I ascend some more flights of stairs, a library, and then.....Dan. Mr Orchard our UK Manager who works from the USA is right there in front of me. I scream. I actually scream his name, how embarassing is that!?? "Dan!! Oh my god I'm here!! I'm actually here!!! I think I'm gong to have a heart attack!". He coped with a manic ginger quite well I thought. I met his wife Annie (too cute that one!) and the delectable Toni Budge our events co-ordinator.

Then bit by bit the others started to arrive. They all looked much more composed than me, I was glad to see my roomy arrive shortly after because Christine was as overwhlemed as I was! I couldn't talk. I couldn't plan. I didn't know what to do next!

We all met for dinner, and chatted. I'm so glad we did. All of us. I told my table straight out that I was worried I'd be alone - I even asked Claire who was sat next to me if I could tag along with her for the evening "Can I please be your freind tonight??". The rest is history.

Together we all chatted about our families, Scentsy, what we found worked, what was hard, what needed to change. We saw amazing things! I saw Rome & Cannes & Pisa and so much more and we all talked and shared and laughed.

I have never laughed so long and so hard as I did on that trip. When I got home my sides actually ached. I thought that was a myth.

The first day on the ship I was guilt ridden that my kids couldn't come along. At every turn I saw a free icecream cone machine, or a fun swimming pool, a climbing wall, free unlimited puddings! All I could think that first night was that my boys would have loved this....then I got over it.....I found out what it was like to have a full meal uninterupted. To be able to make a decision and just go do it. This was what being a grown up was like! Freedom! I love those boys and I dearly love my husband but I had totally forgotten what life was like before I was the centre of the family, and became the go to person for everything.

On the last night, it started to sink in that the the freindships and bonds we had made were truly something amazing. That tomorrow, we would all have to go back to cooking dinner whilst helping the kids with homework & juggling the washing and the cleaning, oh and not forgetting the full time job and the Scentsy business building.

This has possibly been my longest ever blog - but I needed to get it all out, and this aint the half of it! I cannot wait to see all the girls again, we have a strong foundation to build on now, with our freindships and our businesses.

I thought I was going on a free holiday - but it was so much more than that. I will never, ever forget this trip. A wonderful journey.

Is it real? Really?

You may or may not be aware that this year I earned the Scentsy Europe Incentive Trip. Good for you. *Hurrah* I hear you shout some with gusto, some with a hint of non chalant sarcasm. Well, I'm not writing this to gloat, boast or generally big myself up.

This is a what now? Seriously! So this is actually going to happen? - kind of deal.

We have always been the kind of family that lived on a tight budget. My husband and I have always both worked but only ever managed to earn enough to cover the bills, only in the last couple of years have we been able to afford a car again. It's been tough - in this financial climate, it's been hard for everyone. Our one week of family holiday together (thats all we get as we have to split our annual leave to cover school half terms) is happily spent in caravan parks across the UK.

When Scentsy launched their "Set Sail" Incentive for an all expenses paid Med Cruise, I was reaching for the dream. I could see myself on that boat - but so could everyone else. Al it really was, was a pipe dream. Thats the kind of thing that happens to everyone else. Not me. We all needed 14000 points to get on that boat. Sorry, ship.

I can't say I did anything special, I got sales, I did parties, events, I got new team members and helped them build up a business too. By January I had 12700 points! It wasn't by being pushy, or over zealous, I was almost there and all I had done was what I usually do to make my business work! All I needed was my lady to hit her promotion and I was on the boat. Sorry, ship.

January 31st 8pm. Boom! Promotion was earned! 1500 point got me to 14200 points and on that boat!! Sorry, ship. I was in a daze to be honest - things like this just don't happen to people like me.

My next realisation was that I didn't even have a valid passport. The last time I had been out of the country I was 6 months pregnant with my eldest son. 12 years ago. Then once that was sorted, I kind of went into denial. It wasn't really going to happen. They will find out there has been a mistake and actually, those go getters & power women that should be on the trip will go, of course. I got a few emails asking me to fill out this form, confirm that flight etc. I would play along. It would be rude not to.

So, today. I'm packing. I'm actually packing for an all expenses 5 night cruise on the Med. In a big boat. Sorry, a HUGE SHIP! Liberty of the Seas to be exact. All excursions, all gratuities, all food. And I still can't quite believe it. I'm staying over night in London with a friend who will take me to the airport in the morning - do you think I'll believe it then? It's my first flight out of the UK in 12 years - when I'm on the plane, will I accept this is real then? When I see that vessel - I may just pass out.

My finishing words are this - don't EVER let anyone tell you that you can't do it. You are good enough. You deserve it. I don't know why, but I found Scentsy, or maybe it found me. I have done and acheived things I never thought I would ever be able to do. Factoid.

I will, for sure, be posting my holiday snaps for you to browse when I get back. If you want to know more about becoming a Scentsy Consultant, and joining my team then check out www.scenti-mental.scentsy.co.uk

NEW! ScenTrend 2013

SCENT TREND NEW to Europe in 2013

NEW to Europe! Experience the very latest in home fragrance. Each year Scentsy will release the must have, on trend fragrance of the current season.

This season it’s Violet Leaf. Add just one cube of our ScenTrend fragrance to a cube of any other fragrance in the range that carries the ScenTrend leaf and they will complement each other perfectly and give you a truly unique fragrance – there are so many combinations to choose from! Have you mixed ScenTrend? I’d love to hear your stories.

Below I have reveiwed our ScenTrend fragrance of 2013, Violet Leaf, and also all of the recommended scents in our collection that will combine with Violet Leaf to gve a whole new depth to each one.

Violet Leaf - fresh, green scent.
ScenTrend 2013 Violet Leaf
Bright white wax.
The corporate description is “the very essence of green, dewy, fresh, organic and just a little floral”. On first sniff it is very subtle and fresh.  On second sniff I’m not getting any layers coming through. Dewy it is for sure.  Walk my dog at sunrise in the mornings through a green pasture, and this is the early morning smell. Before the cars start pumping out any nastiness, it’s the freshness of a new day.

Posy Peach
Soft orange wax
On first sniff a delightful fuzzy, sweet peach. Not too sweet, no harsh, just a lovely soft scent. This really will make a home most inviting! Posy Peach contains our ScenTrend fragrance Violet Leaf. Combine a cube of Posy Peach with one of Violet leaf for a beautiful blend, or use Posy Peach on it’s own for juicy peachy goodness.

Simply Lime – NEW to the Simply Scentsy selection
Lime green coloured wax
Let me break it down for you. A. Maze. Balls! I love it! Fresh & breezy. Like a cool Sprite on a hot summers day. This isn’t a particularly strong one, but it’s beautiful. I’d love to walk into my home on a hot summers day (they are coming I promise!) and have this fragrance greet me. Part of the ScenTrend experience; mix a cube of Simply Lime with one of Violet Leaf for an amazing combination.

Apple Press – part of the Favourites collection
Dark red wax
Ooooh! A deep apple fragrance. First sniff – hello sweet apple, second sniff, and there’s the pear. A truly mouth watering and fresh fruit salad fragrance. I can’t get the rose that we are told is in there, but I’m sure that would become prevalent as the scent is warmed. Part of the ScenTrend experience; mix a cube of Apple Press with Violet Leaf to experience an amazing fresh, dewy, crisp apple scent.

My Home (formerly Home Sweet Home) – part of the Favourites collection
Reddy brown wax
This is a pleasant flowery cinnamon. A nice comforting cinnamon fragrance. Part of the ScenTrend experience you can freshen up you’re My Home with the fresh green scent of Violet Leaf, our ScenTrend bar this season. Use a cube of each for a bespoke fragrance.

Serene Green – NEW to the Spring & Summer Collection
Light green, almost mint white wax
Initial sniff of the cold wax and I can get a nose full of citrus, green citrus. Lime leaves; add verbena leaf for a zesty lemon tint. Using the leaves for the citrus fragrance gives it a lovely deep earthy tone. Part of the ScenTrend experience, mix with Violet Leaf wax bar for a truly indulgent green & organic fragrance.

Honeymoon Hideaway – NEW to the Romance Collection
White wax.
First inhalation is of a light dusting of coconut, sweet florals too. A return smelling and I’m now getting the kiwi through, still enveloped in a fresh lily fragrance with a hint of creamy coconut. This is truly heavenly, a gorgeous relaxing fragrance. Part of the ScenTrend experience, mix with Violet leaf – our on Trend bar of the season for a green & dewy highlight for this Honeymoon treat.

Mariner – part of the Scentsy Man Collection
Dark Blue wax
On initial sniff there is a whole lot going on in there! I get pepper, citrus & lavender all in one go. A return to the cold wax and I find a musky overtone, which must be the vetiver. All in all, and when warming and allowing all those layers to work in unison, this is a marvellous ocean scent with a manly musk overtone. Part of the ScenTrend experience, mix with our ScenTrend featured bar for a musky, dewy aroma.

Lotus Cove – part of the Spa Collection
Light blue was – initial inhalation is of fresh water spray. I once went on a residential school trip to Wales, and we were able to walk under the ledge of a waterfall and watch the wall of water fall in front of us and hit the river pool below. This is where this fragrance takes me. Fresh water spray. Lush. Part of the ScenTrend experience mix with Violet Leaf for a truly deep and fresh fragrance experience; bring a fresh morning walk inside with these two bars together.

Red Ginger Flower – part of the Tropical Collection
Dark red wax
A hit of sandalwood right away, earthy. Another sniff and I am getting fruity (pineapple) too. These fragrances work together to produce an exotic, spicy, sweet and sour experience. As part of the ScenTrend selection this season, team up a cube of Red Ginger Flower with one of Violet Leaf to bring an earthy tone to this exotic aroma.

NEW Scentsy Fragrance Category! Review

Simply Scentsy Fragrance Range NEW for 2013!

After many requests at parties & events of "Do you have a Rose fragrance" or "Do you have just cinnamon, I just like cinnamon", Scentsy have once again listened to what their customers want and given us a brand new fragrance collection. "Simply Scentsy".

Scentsy signature fragrances have always been a combination of at least 4 key fragrances working together to form the volume, depth and layer we know and love from Scentsy. But we asked, and once again, they listened.

The Simply Collection strips down to a key fragrance note. I have written my thgouhts on each of the Simply Collection. Some of my customers like to know what colour each wax is too, which is why I impart that information on my reviews.

Simply Strawberry
Red wax – This one takes me back to being a little girl. I may have been a complete tomboy, spending my days in dungarees, climbing trees & making dens in the local woods – but I still loved my dollies. Simply strawberry is a wonderful reminder of my Strawberry Shortcake doll. It smells exactly like her! I love it!

Simply Rose
Light pink wax – The long awaited Rose fragrance bar!! Scentsy have been holding off producing a rose bar because they just couldn't make it reflect a true rose scent. Now they deem it worthy of release! On first sniff I am getting a heavy perfume smell, on second sniff it’s settled into a more defined rose fragrance. If you like rose, you are going to LOVE this.

Simply Cinnamon
Brown wax – I am not a great fan of cinnamon, I don’t like it in food and I am not a fan of it in fragrance either! But I shall give you my unbiased opinion I promise! First sniff and this is not overpowering, a nose full or cinnamon but I’m not finding it offensive which for me is a seriously large compliment! Second sniff confirms the first reaction. This isn’t a hits you in the face fragrance – if you like clove & cinnamon from the Autumn/Winter range, this s it’s little brother. Very cute and quite harmless.

Vanilla Cream
Off white, creamy coloured wax – This one has moved from the Favourites collection to the Simply collection. I can’t put it more simply than this. Vanilla cream is a lovely creamy vanilla! Like a big vanilla hug when you walk in a room. It’s my son’s favourite (he’s 11) he has it on in his bedroom. I think this one will always remind me of goodnight hugs.

Simply Lime
Lime green coloured wax – Let me break it down for you. A. Maze. Balls! I love it! Fresh & breezy. Like a cool Sprite on a hot summers day. This isn’t a particularly strong one, but it’s beautiful. I’d love to walk into my home on a hot summers day (they are coming I promise!) and have this fragrance greet me.

Fragrance Reviews for NEW Spring/Summer Scentsy Fragrances

Here we are again at a brand new catalogue launch. New fragrances, new product lines - there aren't many of the Spring/Summer fragrances I don't like. This of course means trouble as my wish list expands even further!

Our NEW "Simply" Collection review will follow soon!

This is my opinion on the NEW fragrances this season.....more to follow too!

Apricot & Agave NEW in Spring/Summer 2013 Collection
Soft orange coloured wax
Just from removing the lid a waft of juicy apricot rises up. First sniff: Ooooh hellooooo apricot. Soft and juicy. Not too sweet. Second sniff: Slightly less sweet than the first but all in all, a nice fruity one here.

Honeymoon Hideaway NEW in Romance Collection
Slightly off white wax colour
Sweet & silky upon first sniff. A hint of coconut, I’d say coconut milk but the text description says coconut palm. A re-sniff and I can now get the kiwi coming through. A nice mix, very calming. That kiwi will come out more the longer it is warmed I think.

Iris Petals NEW in Romance Collection
Lilac colour wax
First sniff: hit by a beautiful perfume, this has depth and would fill a room with it’s sweet fragrance. Second sniff confirms the depth, a hint of palma violets from my childhood – but so, so tender. What a lovely fragrance to add to your collection. Relaxing & calming.

Verbena Leaf NEW in Spring/Summer 2013 Collection
Pale green colour wax
Wowser! I wasn’t expecting that. This is like the smell of the dock leaves you’d rub on nettle stings – this is taking me back to building dens in the woods! Green and earthy. Second sniff and I can get the mint, and the citrus cuts through the earthiness too. There’s also the basil coming out. I’d like to warm this one and enjoy all these layers coming out. A fan of that freshly cut grass smell, this is one for me this summer without the hayfever!

Walk on the Beach NEW in Spa Collection
Creamy coloured wax
First sniff: Salty freshness, Second sniff: Mild florals, the salt is there but it's in good taste, like you are licking the air at the beach, that’s exactly it. Not sure how it manages to be soft and salty, but it does and it's going on my "must warm" list. This is going to be lovely to walk in to come the sticky summer days. (yes - we will have them - believe people!)

Grapefruit & Acai NEW in Spring/Summer 2013 Collection
Pinky Red colour red
A mixture of fresh fruitiness. Slightly sherberty with hits of apple & pineapple. Not so much of the grapefruit I was expecting.

Lychee Sorbet NEW in Corner Café Collection
Nice pink coloured wax
Sharp as you’d expect. This has “fizz” to it that cuts into the sharpness, a headfull of juicy berries this is fresh & fruity.

Safari Buddy Collection now available!
Plum Trifle NEW in Corner Café Collection
Purple Colour wax
Woo hoo! I’m not a foody wax fan but on first sniff I am getting a whole lot of sweetness, biscuity layers in there I’m sure. Creamy vanilla & deep plum tones. This is a foody one that I would warm. Lots of lovely layers and not too sweet.

Tiare Maohi NEW in Spring/Summer 2013 Collection
Cream coloured wax
First sniff: Lovely nose full of gardenia. Like walking into a flower shop! White  florals with a hint of coconut make this an all over pleasant fragrance.

Clementine & Sage NEW in Tropical Collection
Orange coloured wax
Fizzy on first sniff, the bubbles do hit you. Second sniffing and there’s a really nice soft clementine coming through, it’s gently sweet in a fruity way and the sage cuts in nicely to bring the sweetness down. The fizziness lessens with every sniff and the Clementine comes out more. I think this is going on my list to warm.

Serene Green NEW in Spring/Summer 2013 Collection
Pale lime green wax
First sniff: Subtle lime and nice fresh body to it. I can smell green leaves, a very clean, crisp scent. Subtle. This would be lovely after a good cleaning session at home!

Perk Me Up NEW in the Corner Café Collection
Light brown wax
A nose full of creamy coffee. Not overpowering, and with a tad of nuttiness. Brilliant for homeowners and estate agents wanting to sell property. Fill it with this welcoming and homely scent of freshly brewed coffee.

White Jasmine & Vetiver NEW in Spring/Summer 2013 Collection
Pale lilac coloured wax
First sniff: A gorgeous light perfume of jasmine & sweet lilac. Lovely sweetness, not sickly sweet. Second sniff and there’s that body of lilac, and layers of jasmine. A lovely softness to this fragrance. I’d love to see this in the body spray.

Lemons & Berries NEW in Spring/Summer 2013 Collection
Pink coloured wax
First sniff: Crikey! That is a big hit of juicyness! Starburst in a wax bar! Tart but creamy. Citrus and fruity. So much body this is going to be warmed in my house for sure.

Pixie NEW in Spring/Summer 2013 Collection
Reddy brown coloured wax
First sniff: Subtle and hard to know what I’m smelling. Second sniff: There’s the pink pepper and it’s earthy, not at all sweet or fruity despite the mandarin. I’d be interested to see how this was warmed as I’m not getting the benefit of all the layers in a cold wax.

Cherry Vanilla NEW in Corner Café Collection
Red coloured wax
First sniff: Very cherry! Second sniff: Almonds coming through, sweet & creamy vanilla envelopes the cherries now. A lovely array of tones would come out and produce a wonderful cocktail when warmed.

Silk & Ivory NEW Romance Collection
Creamy white wax
I have to share this fragrance with you! I think it is one of the most stunning from the new selection. The description in the catalogues says Fresh muguet and sweet sugar entwine dark chocolate and sandalwood. I can honestly tell you I can't distinguish from the fragrance any chocolate, but all of those ingredients together make me melt when I smell it! Like Satin Sheets with umph! I seriously want to sit and chill with my slippers on and a cup of tea. maybe a cuddle on the sofa! I have never come across such an awesome fragrance that makes me instantly switch off and chill.

A Wink & a Smile NEW in Spring/Summer Collection
Orange coloured wax
Subtle floral scent. Lovely smiley fragrance like being presented with a bouquet.

Scentsy Online Parties (How to)

This is a training I put together for my fellow Scentsy Consultant, but it can be adapted to any direct sales or party plan company members.

I have been doing online parties for over a year now, and I'm always being asked how I do them - so, this is how! I wasn't very well when I recorded this. I had an awful cold so I hope you can get past the nasal tone to my voice!

Enjoy - I hope it helps. Do you enjoy online parties? Comment below and let me know what works for you as either a customer or consultant.

The Big Little Freeze

How very UK. Or to put in more specifically, How very South Of England.

3 inches was all it took to bring Southampton to a grinding halt. You'd have thought that with the Black Ice Incidient of 2010 we'd have learnt our lesson. That the main roads would all be gritted, routes to the hospitals would be clear & that if you really didn't need to be on the road, you weren't.

Oh heck no. Schools closed, roads totally gridlocked, cars sliding all over the road, access route to the hospital had cars abandoned on double yellow lines leaving blue lighted ambulances stuck at the top of the road with no access.

What ever happened to the mantra "Keep Calm & Carry On". Our fellow patriots a fews hours further North are having their annual Laugh At The Southerners events in Pubs and clubs as they go about theut business. Why are we so utterley floored by the concept of snow?

When I was growing up we only ever had snow a handful of times. I think decent snow, snowman building snow, maybe just the once. My children have seen snow every year for at least 5 years. It's old hat to them.

I'm expecting a visit from relatives this afternoon, from Denmead 40 minutes away. Such a drive would usually not even warrant a travel discussion. But I can see from my window that 3 days into it and my road has still not been gritted.

Well, I hope you are enjoying your snow days. I'm not complaining, more commenting on the total panic that ensues and drives everything to stop dead at the sight of the white stuff!

I've spent 3 days enjoying time with my boys, working my scentsy business & catching up with lots of oaoerwork. Happy days :0) Enjoy the gratuitous snow pics. How did you "cope" this weekend?

Back to the old grind.....

When you work in retail or direct sales, October - December is THE busiest time of year. It can account for 50% of the entires years sales. So no surprise then that I worked my little odd socks off for weeks!
I have a full time office job, as well as the Karate club but I LOVE running my Scentsy business along side all my other commitments. It's my desire to succeed in my own personal Scentsy business that pushes me through each and every day in the lead up to Christmas. 7 day weeks for nearly 2 full months.
I'd make Scentsy work around everything else. Dropping off orders on the way to work, collecting orders that came in through Facebook & via text & email while I'm at the day job, posting orders out on the way home from work, take the dog out, feed the kids, put a wash load on, answer emails, receive delivery, sort delivery, deliver delivery, sort tomorrows party, make scent samples....and did I feel a pressure to do it? Was it a struggle? No! I so wanted to do it! I couldn't wait to get back from the day job to get stuck in. I loved to figure out where I could fit in what task, before work, lunch break, after work, evening?
I got such a buzz out of it. And was it worth it? YEAH!!! I've just enjoyed my second debt free Christmas thanks to my Scentsy business. Did I go a little overboard and spoil the kids? Well, yes. Did I hit the sales this year, when I've never had any money to spend in them ever before? Yep!! Did I go to Ikea for meatballs and come out with a trolley full of goodies? Yes, yes I did!!
Scentsy has been a huge financial relief for me and my family.
So to all those that say, I've got too much on, I'm too busy, I can't fit it in around everything else. Yes you can!
What is your day job stopping you from achieving? This is a huge opportunity that WILL fit in to your life if you allow it to.
So now my problem is, after 2 glorious weeks of down time & family time over the Christmas & New Year break, it's back to the old grind next week. I've come to realise this week that if I didn't work full time I could fill my days with Scentsy no problem! There are so many possibilities that when I have the extra time, I'm working it for all it's worth! But until my Scentsy business is paying every bill each month, it will a slot in nicely around the rest of my life.
In a year my business has grown from just me, to 15 in my team. This year that will double, if not treble or quadruple! Exciting times ahead!
Have a fabulous 2013 everybody! This is going to be one hell of a ride!
