Yankee Fluffy Towels - got nothing from this. |
I'm not biased. I've never had anything against Yankee, but the comparison to Scentsy & the volume of Yankee fans that have signed up to join my Team made me curious.
So, I feel must confess that I have never even given Yankee Candle's a passing glance. I was introducted to Scentsy by a friend who had just returned from a holiday in Texas when it was due to launch in the UK. It wasn't even in the country yet, so I couldn't even smell it, I could only see that with a child that is FULL of allergies, another child who is so clumsy it's unreal, and also a rather large dog whose swooshy tail at coffee table height causes havoc, I could see the safety values of Scentsy versus candles and knew there had to be others like me who loved candles (I used ot make my own from beeswax & essential oils), but just didn't have a household to suit a lit flame left around the place.
So when the Starter Pack arrived, and I opened a bar of Scenty wax - I was floored. Oh my it was better that I had thought. A burst of fragance I'd never known before. Sweet Pea & Vanilla was the first I had ever smelt and it's still a firm fave today.
I nearly hyperventilated, such was the speed and gusto I went through all 50 fragrances (as was then we now have 80 in the collection). Then when we plugged in a warmer & added a cube....heaven! I could still smell it the next morning after it had been off all night.
Scentsy Heirloom Warmer £30 |
Strawberry, cotton, midnight something - I got a hit from that, but the rest as I mooched around the shop I got nothing. I guess I wanted a bit of competition, and although the colours made me happy there was just no substance. No fragrance, no memories came jumping back like they seem to with Scentsy fragrance.
So - please, Yankee fans educate me! What drives you to collect Yankee? Have you tried Scentsy? Heard of Scentsy? Does Scentsy appeal to you? If not, tell me why? I'm not after a fight, I don't wish to convert people - I just don't get "it" with the whole Yankee thing - but I do get Scentsy. I love the fragrances and that is what Scentsy is all about & it's easy & safe.
I feel I may have upset the apple cart or started a riot, but as this blog is new I think I'm safe!
All feedback is welcome - I want to know what you think x

Lol. I prefer Yankees although have tried both as i like burning candles and i think it comes as the whole package for me. Marie sent me a good range of Scentsy scents but i still found myself preferring Yankees.
ReplyDeleteAs i don't have children, pets or an overwhelming desire for white walls I'm happy with my 100s of Yankee jars. That said i don't like fluffy towels or baby powder scents.
Thanks Amy! I'm glad you took my post in the way it was intended xxx So you do burn them, not just collect them? Or both? Whats your favourite Yankee scent? And I think you are right in that they are different beasts. You either like burning candles in a home that is not over run by small people & animals or you like Scentsy for the fragrance. Is that fair?
ReplyDeleteOnly just seen this. Sorry. I like fruity scents. My fave Yankees are Lemon Lime, and Pineapple Palm. Anything fruity really. I like to burn a few amd my my own fruit salad.
ReplyDeleteAnd i burn them all, the whole point of candles are scent and flame and i want to enjoy them.
Think your right, all the people i know who are Scentsy fans are almost evangelical about how good they are.
